Following two dominant performances to start the 2023-2024 season, UNC basketball star big man Armando Bacot has earned multiple weekly awards.

Dominant.

That’s the best word to describe Armando Bacot through the UNC basketball program’s first two games of the season.

Of course, Bacot has been dominant for a good part of his North Carolina career, but the fifth-year senior is playing like a man on a mission in his final go-around.

Bacot averaged 23.5 points and 16.5 rebounds per game and shot a staggering 60% from the floor as well as 91.7% from the free-throw line in victories over non-conference foes Radford and Lehigh.

Against Radford, Bacot recorded 25 points and 13 rebounds, marking the 100th time in his UNC basketball career that he scored in double-figures. He followed it up with an even stronger performance, recording a first-half double-double en route to a 22-point, 20-rebound effort against Lehigh.

For his dominance on the court, Bacot is the recipient of two weekly honors.

First, Bacot was named the Lute Olson National Player of the Week. Shortly after, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced that the Richmond, Virginia native was named the ACC Player of the Week.

Bacot has now earned seven ACC Player of the Week honors throughout his career, which is third most in program history. He only trails Antawn Jamison (12) and Tyler Hansbrough (10) on this list.

The UNC basketball program’s big man continues to build on his already strong legacy, as his final collegiate season is off to a fantastic start.
