Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program picked up their second victory of the 2023-2024 season on Sunday afternoon against Lehigh.

The final score doesn’t indicate it, but Sunday’s contest between the UNC basketball program and Lehigh was much closer than it appeared.

With just over 10 minutes left in the second half, Lehigh trailed by single digits. Fortunately, Hubert Davis’ team was able to pull away, putting the game out of reach with a strong second-half performance.

To no surprise, the story of the game was the dominance of big man Armando Bacot, who recorded his third career 20-20 game. The fifth-year senior was a matchup nightmare for the Mountain Hawks, as he finished the afternoon with 22 points and 20 rebounds.

The bulk of the Tar Heels scoring came from the trio of Bacot, RJ Davis, and Harrison Ingram. Davis tied Bacot for a game-high 22 points while knocking down eight of his 14 shot attempts, while Ingram finished with 14 points and seven rebounds in the victory.

Other than the aforementioned trio, North Carolina had a few other guys score the basketball, as Elliot Cadeau was the next closest with seven points off the bench. Three-point shooting continues to be an issue, as the UNC basketball program knocked down just five of 17 attempts.

Hubert Davis was once again able to mix and match as the Tar Heels look for the lineups that work the best. Some looked good while some didn’t, but the good thing is that this group continues to gain experience together as a unit.

You have to be encouraged by the Tar Heels’ ability to pull away, even though Lehigh certainly didn’t back down. They’ll have a few days to work on some things before UC Riverside comes to town for another non-conference showdown.
