No. 3: Now Hubert Davis is using too much of the bench!

Last season, we consistently heard that Hubert Davis doesn’t use his bench enough.

Last night, we heard from some UNC basketball fans that Davis was now going too deep into his bench.

What do you want from this guy?!

As we mentioned earlier, 10 Tar Heels saw significant minutes, while all 11 scholarship players appeared in the victory. Before everyone starts freaking out over the rotation use, let’s just put this issue to bed.

Expect Hubert Davis to mix and match over the early parts of the 2023-2024 season.

You’re going to see a lot of the bench, as Davis and his staff look for the right recipe to roll with. As the season progresses, it should be expected that the rotation will shorten, as the Tar Heels will likely rely on only a few reserves to make an impact.

We should all be grateful that this team has depth. The “Iron Five” was fun while it lasted, but we saw how that had an impact on the guys who essentially never left the court.

Armando Bacot only had to play 29 minutes last night and dominated. Imagine what Bacot could do with fresher legs down the stretch?

The fact that the Tar Heels have 10 guys who are talented enough to see playing time is very encouraging, as the depth of this team should be a major factor in its success moving forward.
