NCAA Tournament Predictions

Nick Delahanty:

Like I said in the previous slide, I really am hoping that this year’s team makes it to the NCAA Tournament.

No joke: last season was depressing, as we went from the high of highs the season prior to the low of lows. I truly expect this team to make its way to March Madness.

You know what they say: veteran teams win come March. Well, not many teams are more experienced than this year’s UNC basketball squad.

The collection of talent that Hubert Davis put together I believe gets the Tar Heels to the Elite 8, but hey, if they get hot at the right time again… they may go even farther.

Jordan Falls:

The ultimate question… How far can this team go in March? Can Hubert Davis get them back to the last Monday night where they were just two seasons ago? It’s a whole new cast of characters and just a few returners. I’m not sure we will know the potential of this team until well after the non-conference portion of the schedule.

On the surface, the talent and experience are in the locker room. In college basketball, to win in March, you want as much experience as you can get, and the Tar Heels have that.

The average starting age of the projected lineup is 22.9 years old. Hubert has constructed this roster with transfers that have talent and experience playing in Power Five conferences, including two ACC transfers. Everything is in place; they just need to put the pieces together. Add in returners Armando Bacot and RJ Davis, and this team might have what it needs to fuel a deep run into March.

All UNC Basketball fans are hoping for a return to the Final Four. I think that’s possible, but at this moment, may be a stretch to predict, given how last season went. A second weekend, Sweet Sixteen, or Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament feels more realistic for this team.
