The UNC football program bounced back in a big way, securing a blowout victory over Campbell on Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill.

After two consecutive losses, the UNC football program got back on track with a blowout victory over FCS opponent Campbell.

Yes, the Tar Heels are expected to beat FCS programs with a 59-7 final as they did against the Fighting Camels, but after two disappointing outings, it was good to see the guys in Carolina Blue pick up another victory.

Of course, this is certainly not the most motivating game on the Tar Heels schedule, and to no surprise, North Carolina did sleepwalk a little bit early on. However, after being tied up at seven after one-quarter of play, it was all North Carolina from that point on.

The UNC football program scored three times in the second quarter (and would’ve had an additional field goal attempt if it wasn’t for some miscommunication at the end of the half), and continued to tack on from there.

Omarion Hampton was the story of the first half, as he surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark on the season for the first time in his young collegiate career. Tez Walker, who was questionable after the big hit he took in last week’s loss to Georgia Tech, was able to play and scored on both of his receptions.

When the third quarter started, the Tar Heels wasted no time getting back on the board, as a 25-yard touchdown reception by John Copenhaver capped a three-play, 75-yard drive that took just 37 seconds.

After that, North Carolina kept tacking on.

The good thing about games like this is the fact that some of the team’s depth gets to see action. Mack Brown essentially emptied his bench, as some of the younger guys on the depth chart got to see some valuable game experience.

One of those players was backup quarterback Conner Harrell, who really impressed with his limited action. He made it happen with his arm and with his legs, as he scored a 61-yard rushing touchdown and connected with true freshman Chris Culliver for a 41-yard strike through the air.

The UNC football program did what we expected them to: take care of business. Now, they’ll look to get back on track in conference play, as their much-anticipated game against Duke will be held a week from today.

Next. Omarion Hampton reaches personal milestone. dark
