UNC Basketball showing interest in Class of 2026 recruit
Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have been keeping tabs on one of the top-rising prospects from the state of North Carolina.
Josiah Sanders continues to make a name for himself on the recruiting trail.
As a Class of 2026 prospect, the 6-foot-7 wing has been adding offers at a rapid pace, as some big-time programs are starting to take notice of his talent.
Along with his recent offer from California (who is set to join the ACC), Sanders currently holds various offers from programs such as High Point, Charleston, Norfolk State, Radford, Hampton, and Coastal Carolina.
Could the UNC basketball program join that list in the near future?
In a recent interview with Phenom Hoop Report, Sanders discussed his current recruitment, confirming that North Carolina has shown some early interest.
"“Yessir (North Carolina) asked for the transcript and all and said they would be in touch soon. They said they loved what they saw and would be back to check out a few games. Nothing too exciting so far just because they haven’t offered yet, but my thoughts on it would be just to keep working because even if they offer, it doesn’t mean the job is done. I still have to perform when I get there.”"
It’s early in the process, especially considering that Sanders is on the verge of starting his sophomore season of high school basketball, but it shows that Hubert Davis and his staff are already very active on the recruiting trail as they search for the next crop of players that they hope to bring to Chapel Hill over the next few years.
