North Carolina Tar Heels legends released statements following the announcement of the passing of legendary head coach Bob Knight.
Sad news struck the college basketball world on Wednesday night, as one of the best coaches to ever do it, Bob Knight, has passed away at the age of 83.
Knight is remembered for leading the Indiana Hoosiers from 1971-2000, as his 902 career victories at the time of his retirement was a new NCAA record. Although it has been surpassed since, it doesn’t take away from what Knight was able to do on the sidelines, as his impact is one that will carry on for a very long time.
After the announcement of his passing was made, some North Carolina Tar Heel legends released statements regarding the news. Here’s what former UNC basketball coach Roy Williams had to say:

Saddened to learn of Coach Knight’s passing yesterday. He was a dear friend who always took the time to share words of wisdom and guidance with me. He was one of a kind. A true legend. You will be missed, my friend. 🩵🙏🩵 pic.twitter.com/wVZQh9i1VF

George Karl, another coaching legend, also made a statement, as his post on X included a legendary photo of Knight with Dean Smith.
Bobby Knight is one of the guys who took basketball to a higher level. He taught at a higher level and helped it become the 2nd most popular sport in the world.
