The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its annual preseason awards, as the UNC basketball program is represented individually by two key players.

You know the college basketball season is almost here when conferences start to release their annual preseason awards!

Thursday was the day for the Atlantic Coast Conference, as Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program are projected to finish third in the standings. The Tar Heels received a single first-place vote, as they find themselves behind Duke and Miami in the predicted order of finish.

Individually, two UNC basketball standouts earned preseason accolades.

To no surprise, fifth-year senior Armando Bacot was named a Preseason All-ACC first-team selection. Bacot received the second-most votes (behind Duke’s Kyle Filipowski) and is joined by PJ Hall of Clemson, Reece Beekman of Virginia, and Norchad Omier of Miami on the conference’s first-team unit.

Additionally, Bacot was also second in the ACC Preseason Player of the Year vote, once again only trailing Filipowski.

In a landslide, freshman Elliot Cadeau earned the Preseason Rookie of the Year Award. His 40 votes were 34 more than Jared McCain of Duke (who finished second in the voting).
