UNC Basketball program offers top Class of 2025 prospect
Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have officially jumped into the mix for the top available player in the Class of 2025.
AJ Dybantsa was originally part of the Class of 2026.
The Napa, California native was regarded as the top overall player in his class, as college programs have been heavily seeking the highly-touted prospect.
With aspirations of being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Dybantsa recently announced that he will re-classify into the Class of 2025. Although some prospects take a dip when they reclass, some recruiting sites, such as 247 Sports, have kept Dybantsa in the top spot in his new class.
If you’ve been following the recruiting trail as of late, it’s likely you’ve heard how deep the Class of 2025 is. Even with Cooper Flagg re-classifying, there are still plenty of top-tier talents, including Cameron Boozer, Darryn Peterson, and Koa Peat (to name a few). Dybantsa holding the top spot in this class shows how good of a basketball player he is, as Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program feel he’d be a great addition to the Tar Heel family.
Dybantsa announced that he has been extended an offer from the UNC basketball program. With this offer coming two weeks after his re-classifying decision, it goes to show that North Carolina has plenty of interest in this top-tier talent, regardless of which class he is a part of.
The UNC basketball program now has nine scholarship offers out to Class of 2025 standouts. Eight of these offers are to five-star talents, as Cameron Boozer (who is a four-star trending towards being a five-star player) is the only exception up to this point.
