UNC Basketball: Armando Bacot named AP Preseason All-American
The UNC basketball star big man has been named to yet another Preseason All-American team heading into the 2023-2024 season.
As various publications release their annual Preseason All-American teams, one thing remains consistent:
Armando Bacot is a consensus first-team selection.
The latest preseason accolade for the Tar Heels big man comes from the Associated Press, as they’ve named Bacot a first-team All-American heading into the 2023-2024 college basketball season.
Very similar to CBS Sports’ Preseason All-America squads, Bacot is joined on the first team by the same four student-athletes: Zach Edey of Purdue (unanimous selection), Tyler Kolek of Marquette, Hunter Dickinson of Kansas, and Kyle Filipowski of Duke.
The Tar Heels star has been a double-double machine, averaging double-figures in points and rebounds in each of the past two seasons. Although his numbers took a bit of a dip a season ago, Bacot was still a matchup nightmare for opposing squads, even while dealing with various injuries.
With a clean bill of health (knock on wood) heading into the new season, Bacot has some more business to take care of before his time in Chapel Hill comes to an end.
Bacot and the UNC basketball program will begin the 2023-2024 season on November 6 as they’ll host Radford in non-conference action at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
