The UNC football program’s head coach is one of 26 coaches who have been nominated for this Coach of the Year watch list.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program have put the country on notice with their 6-0 start to the 2023 college football season.

Although there’s plenty of football left to be played, you could make the case that this year’s team could be the best that Brown has had during his time as the program’s head coach. Due to the program’s success, Brown has been named to the American Heart Association’s 2023 Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year Award watch list.

In case you’re not familiar with the award, it is awarded each January to a college football coach for contributions that make the sport better for athletes and fans alike by demonstrating grit, integrity, and a winning approach to coaching and life both on and off the field. Fans of the UNC football program can attest that Brown is a prime example of all of these qualities.

Brown is one of 26 coaches, along with four ACC coaches, to earn a spot on this season’s watch list. The UNC football program has risen into the top 10 in the national rankings, as they aim to make a run down the stretch to secure an ACC title bid as well as challenge for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Although the 6-0 start is awesome from a fan’s perspective, Brown and his staff are motivated to keep this team rolling in the right direction. If the Tar Heels continue to succeed on the field, don’t be surprised if Brown is a top-tier finalist for this award when it’s all said and done.
