UNC Football: Tez Walker named Offensive Breakout Player of the Week
In his second game as a member of the UNC football program, wide receiver Devontez ‘Tez’ Walker put the nation on notice.
Saturday night was a prime example of what Devontez ‘Tez’ Walker brings to the table for the UNC football program.
In just his second game as a Tar Heel, Walker was simply dominant, recording six catches for 132 yards and three scores. His breakout performance helped the Tar Heels take down No. 25-ranked Miami in a critical ACC contest.
For his efforts, Walker has been named the Shrine Bowl’s Offensive Breakout Player of the Week.
The Shrine Bowl serves as an annual event that provides the best senior collegiate football all-stars in the country to showcase their talents in front of top representatives of NFL teams. Just last year, Antoine Green participated in the event, as he ended up getting selected by the Detroit Lions in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Not only did Walker take center stage when the lights were the brightest, but he also showed just what he’s capable of doing within this UNC football program’s offense. With Drake Maye under center, Walker should have plenty more opportunities to showcase his talents as the Tar Heels aim to not only strive for an ACC title berth but a potential College Football Playoff bid as well.
