We are previewing the upcoming week for North Carolina Tar Heels Athletics from October 16, 2023, through October 22, 2023.

Field Hockey – The 11-2 Tar Heels, led by first-year head coach Erin Matson, will continue their streak of road games this week after two road games last week. This time, they will head to Charlottesville, Virginia, for a matchup with Virginia on Friday, October 20th, at 4:00 PM. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

Football – Coming off its most challenging win of the season against Miami, the now No. 10 ranked UNC Football team will host Virginia on Saturday, October 21st, in the 128th edition of the South’s Oldest Rivalry. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 PM in Kenan Stadium and can be found on the CW Network.

Men’s Soccer – The Tar Heels dropped their second match of the season last week versus Wake Forest to move to 6-2-4 on the 2023 season. They are now 1-2-3 in the conference with just three games remaining in the season. This week, they will host non-conference opponent William & Mary on Tuesday, October 17th, at 7:00 PM, followed by hosting ACC foe Louisville on Sunday, October 22nd, at 5:00 PM. Both matches can be found on ACC Network Extra.

Women’s Soccer – Anson Dorrance’s team is 9-0-6 on the season; while not losing any matches, they have struggled to put teams away when they’ve had the opportunity, leading to several draws on the year. Three games remain in the 2023 season, with two of them happening this week, both in Chapel Hill. On Thursday, October 19th, Notre Dame will make a visit to Dorrance Field at 8:00 PM and can be watched on the ACC Network. Following the match with the Fighting Irish, the Tar Heels will welcome Syracuse to town on Sunday, October 22nd, for a 1:00 PM game, and it will be on ACC Network Extra.

Volleyball – The Tar Heels got back in the win column last week with two sweeps of Syracuse and Boston College to move to 9-8 on the season. This week, they will continue their streak of five consecutive road games with trips to Clemson and Georgia Tech. They will visit the Tigers on Friday, October 20th at 7:00 PM and Yellow Jackets on Sunday, October 22nd at 1:00 PM. Both games can be found on ACC Network Extra.
