The UNC Football program moved to 6-0 following its 41-31 victory over the Miami Hurricanes. How did the National Media react in their rankings this week?

Since Mack Brown returned to the UNC Football program in 2019, he has talked about being relevant Nationally. To be relevant Nationally, you have to win and win under the national spotlight. The Tar Heels entered Saturday’s game against the, at the time, No. 25 ranked Miami Hurricanes.

Under the lights and in primetime, it was the Tar Heels perfect opportunity to answer the call and take another step toward that goal, along with several others, like winning the ACC Championship. Mack Brown’s team did just that: they rallied from a 17-14 halftime deficit to beat the Hurricanes 41-31. So, how did the national media and coaches poll respond in ranking the No. 12 Tar Heels this week?

That’s right, your UNC football program is now in the Top 10 in both the coaches and AP Poll this week, ranked No. 10 in each. In the Coaches Poll, the Tar Heels jumped USC & Oregon, while in the AP Poll, they jumped USC & Alabama.

The last time North Carolina was ranked this high was in the 2021 preseason when they were ranked No. 10. They haven’t been ranked this high, this late in the season, since Week 13 during the 2015 season when they were ranked No. 8 heading into the ACC Championship game.

Mack Brown has the UNC Football program entering the National Conversation in mid-October. Now, the Tar Heels just have to stay focused and keep winning games to stay in that conversation as the season progresses.
