Mack Brown and the UNC football program have strived to be in the conversation among the sport’s most elite schools. They are getting closer to it.

Some schools have worked their way into the conversation of the elite programs in college football. Once you’re there, it’s vital to sustain that success; just ask the likes of Alabama and Georgia.

For Mack Brown and the UNC football program, the goal has been to get into that conversation. It’s not an easy thing to do, but winning does play a large role in helping a program get to that point.

After a hard-fought victory over No. 25-ranked Miami, the UNC football program now sits at 6-0 on the 2023 season. Although it is not good to look ahead, the schedule seems favorable over the next three weeks, as the Tar Heels have the opportunity to make their case for a potential College Football Playoff bid even stronger.

As Adam Lucas so perfectly stated on X, a small skit on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live goes to show that the Tar Heels have made it into the conversation, as they hope to eventually stay there as well.

The skit, which had Kenan Thompson play the role of former NFL star and current Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, goes on to discuss the remaining undefeated teams in college football. When the interview host says the words “North Carolina,” the response from Sanders (Thompson) was short but loud and clear.

“Tar Heels.”

By taking care of business on the field, the UNC football program has slowly put itself into this conversation. Although it’s great to be in the conversation at this point in the season, the Tar Heels’ main goal isn’t just to get here but to be a very strong candidate for the College Football Playoff by the time the regular season comes to a close.

How do you do that?

It’s simple: keep the main thing the main thing, focusing on one game at a time. Take care of business on the field, and the rest will take care of itself.

Next. How about that for a second half performance!!!. dark
