After celebrating ‘Live Action’ on Friday night, the UNC basketball program had a special guest at the Dean Smith Center on Saturday afternoon.

If you follow members of the UNC basketball program on social media (most notably Instagram), it’s very likely that your phone blew up with notifications early in the afternoon on Saturday.

Those messages likely read something similar to…

“Armando Bacot is going live.”

“R.J. Davis is going live.”

“Harrison Ingram is going live.”

Why were the members of the Tar Heels basketball team doing this? Well, the answer is a pretty cool one.

The Tar Heels had a special guest at the Dean Smith Center, as popular rapper Travis Scott spent some time with the team.

In case you’re unfamiliar with Scott’s work, he achieved four number-one hits on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart over his career. In total, 80 of Scott’s songs have been charted. He has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards and won a Billboard Music Award, Latin Grammy Award, MTV Video Music Award, as well as multiple BET Hip Hop Awards.

Scott was originally supposed to perform on Saturday night in Raleigh, North Carolina, but his concert was canceled due to unknown reasons. With some new-found free time on his schedule, Scott made his way to Chapel Hill, as the team was certainly thrilled that they had him in the building.

There was plenty of hype in Chapel Hill on Saturday, mostly due to the UNC football program’s upcoming top-25 duel with No. 25-ranked Miami. Scott’s appearance added to that, as the big-time rapper gave some Goosebumps as he hung out with the players while testing out his basketball skills.
