No. 1: The trend ends now

If you recall, a week ago, we mentioned a scoring trend that was forming for the UNC football program.

Last week, the Tar Heels scored first, continuing the trend of scoring first in every other contest.

In case you missed last week’s article (shame on you!), here’s a recap of the trend:

"In the season opener, the Tar Heels got on the board first against South Carolina with an Omarion Hampton one-yard score. The following week, Appalachian State struck first with a 46-yard field goal. North Carolina didn’t take long to score against Minnesota in Week 3, as Drake Maye and company (mostly Nate McCollum) marched down the field in 3:13 of game time to go up 7-0 early. Three weeks ago, the Tar Heels struggled out of the gate, as Pittsburgh got on the board first with an easy touchdown drive that chewed almost eight minutes of the first quarter game clock."

Against Syracuse, North Carolina scored first, making this week one in which the Tar Heels’ opponent gets on the board first.

However, that won’t be the case.

Miami will win the toss and defer to the second half, as Drake Maye and company will find a way to score points on its opening drive.
