Following a stellar performance against the Syracuse Orange, UNC football star Drake Maye earned some national recognition.

Drake Maye put on a show in front of the home crowd at Kenan Stadium as the UNC football program rolled to a 40-7 victory over Syracuse on Saturday afternoon.

Of course, Maye has earned plenty of attention (and rightly so), but the accolades continue to roll in for North Carolina’s star quarterback.

Maye earned two national honors for his week six performance. He was selected as a Davey O’Brien Great 8 as well as the Manning Award Star.

The Davey O’Brien Award was first awarded in 1981, as it serves as the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award. Each week, eight quarterbacks are honored for their success on the field, as Maye, who nearly earned 500 total yards, was one of this week’s recipients.

The Manning Award Star honor is presented weekly to the quarterbacks in college football with the best performances from the week prior, similar to what the Davey O’Brien Great 8 honors.

Not many quarterbacks can say that they had a better week than Maye, as he’s played a pivotal role in the UNC football program’s first 5-0 start since 1997. As he continues his success on the field, Maye is focused on leading the Tar Heels to a few more victories as we get deeper into the college football regular season.
