The UNC football program continues its streak of having at least one player among the ACC weekly honors with two week six honorees.

The streak continues!

After every game played so far during the 2023 college football season, the UNC football program has had at least one player earn ACC Player of the Week honors.

The only week the Tar Heels didn’t have a selection was last week, when they were on their “bye week.”

Two offensive standouts helped keep the trend going, as star quarterback Drake Maye and wide receiver Nate McCollum are among this week’s selections.

Maye put together arguably his best performance of the season as he fell just short of 500 total yards of offense. He completed 33-of-47 passes for a season-high 442 yards and three touchdowns to go along with 55 rushing yards and an additional score.

McCollum was Maye’s most productive target, as the Georgia Tech transfer recorded seven receptions for 135 yards. He played a big role in helping the Tar Heels offense put up 40 points against Syracuse on Saturday afternoon, as this marks the second time this season that McCollum has taken home this honor.

The UNC football program has gotten off to a great start to the season as it heads into a big-time matchup with No. 25 ranked Miami. If the Tar Heels aim to keep that success going, Maye and McCollum will play major roles in how far this team ultimately goes.
