A Class of 2026 standout recently discussed his current recruitment, as the UNC basketball program appears to be right in the mix.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have wasted no time recruiting the Class of 2026, as they are making a strong effort to keep some of the state’s top talent close to home.

Cole Cloer fits that bill, as 247Sports ranks him as the current No. 1 overall player out of the state of North Carolina. The Hillsborough, North Carolina native is viewed as a four-star prospect who holds the No. 24 spot in the national rankings.

In a recent interview with Phenom Hoops, Cloer discussed his early recruitment, going in-depth regarding the UNC basketball program.

"“I got to play pick-up with them actually, practice with the team and play with the team. It was kind of cool to play with them. North Carolina is a Top-5 school in the country, blue-blood, national championships, great coaches, great facilities, etc.  I got to talk to Coach Hubert Davis and the staff a bit; overall it is a great program. They have been showing a lot of interest and came to Orange HS after my visit. Coach Lebo has been to a lot of my games this summer as well. I have also talked to Coach Davis two or three times as well.”"

Cloer has been around the program, having had the opportunity to play pick-up games with the team. Based on his statement, it appears that the Tar Heels coaching staff has gone above and beyond thus far as they look to gain early traction in this recruiting battle.
