A pair of UNC football standouts represent the program among the ACC Players of the Week honors that were selected for Week 4.

Once again, the UNC football program is represented in the annual ACC Player of the Week honors.

This week, two Tar Heels made the cut, as Kaimon Rucker was named the Defensive Lineman of the Week while Alijah Huzzie took home the honors as the Specialist of the Week. Both student-athletes made major contributions in the UNC football program’s first conference victory of the 2023 season against Pittsburgh on Saturday night.

Rucker earns weekly honors for the second time this season as he did a little bit of everything for the Tar Heels defense against Pittsburgh. The senior tallied seven total tackles, two tackles-for-loss, two sacks, and two quarterback hurries in the victory.

Huzzie was outstanding in every aspect of the game on Saturday night. The transfer recorded two interceptions in the win, but his involvement on special teams was what seems to stand out the most.

On two punt returns, Huzzie recorded 81 return yards, including a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown. The other return put the Tar Heels offense in great field position, something that will be a valuable weapon for the team if he can continue doing moving forward.

Both players are very deserving of their weekly accolades, as they’ve both been key contributors in the UNC football program’s first 4-0 start since the 1997 season.
