Through the first four weeks of the 2023 college football season, these four players have been pleasant surprises for the UNC football program.

Heading into their ‘Bye Week,’ Mack Brown and the UNC football program must be pleased with their 4-0 record. Although it hasn’t always been pretty, the Tar Heels have found a way to get the job done, reaching the 4-0 mark for the first time since the 1997 season.

Of course, we hear plenty about the likes of Drake Maye, Cedric Gray, and Power Echols (among others), but this team’s success has been aided by some pleasant surprises who have made an impact early on in the season.

Every great team needs a good core of players, as this year’s UNC football squad hopes to continue its success after a week of rest.

Before we get to that point, here are four players who have been pleasant surprises for the UNC football program through the first four weeks of the 2023 college football season.
