Did the ESPN College GameDay crew slip on the future plans to host the popular show in Chapel Hill before a big UNC football game?!

The UNC football program was featured as the “game of the week” to start the 2003 regular season, as the ESPN College GameDay crew was on site in Charlotte prior to the Tar Heels victory over South Carolina.

With a strong start to the 2023 season, could the College GameDay crew be planning a potential trip to Chapel Hill over the next couple of weeks?

While discussing some storylines around the college football world, host Rece Davis hinted at a potential visit to North Carolina. That possible visit would be when the Duke Blue Devils roll into town on November 11 for what could be a very important ACC clash.

College GameDay is always around when these two programs match up on the basketball court, but now are potentially going to be on hand for a football matchup. Both teams have started the season with a 3-0 record, as their success over the next few weeks will determine if the visit actually does happen.

If both teams continue winning games, that November 11 matchup will be must-see television. It has the makings of playing a major role in the ACC standings, as the loser of that battle may potentially miss out on a chance at making the conference title game.

It’s already an important day on the Tar Heels’ schedule, as it’s not only a matchup with their biggest rival but will also be ‘Senior Day.’ Ultimately, it may be the last time Drake Maye takes the field at Kenan Stadium as a member of the UNC football program.

At this point, it’s simply speculation, but if these two teams continue winning games, we could be in line for a second ESPN College GameDay featured game this season, this time being in Chapel Hill.
