Five-star guard Darryn Peterson has announced the 16 programs he’ll be focusing his attention on. Did the UNC basketball program make the cut?

Darryn Peterson is one of the top-ranked prospects in the Class of 2025.

The 6-foot-5 guard from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, is ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in his graduating class (according to 247Sports Composite). He’s earned plenty of interest on the recruiting trail, as the majority of the country’s top programs have extended an offer to him during his recruitment process.

As he has officially begun his junior year of high school, Peterson has narrowed his recruitment focus towards 16 schools.

First reported by Joe Tipton of On3, Peterson has included the UNC basketball program among his “Sweet Sixteen” list. North Carolina is joined by the likes of Auburn, South Carolina, Baylor, Oregon, Ohio State, Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Kansas, Texas, UCLA, Arkansas, Kansas State, and Indiana as the programs still in the mix.

This is good news for the UNC basketball program, as they still have a chance to lure one of the Class of 2025’s top recruits to Chapel Hill. However, we still have a long way to go in this process, as Hubert Davis and his staff will have to prove to Peterson that North Carolina is the right place for him.

North Carolina has been heavily pursuing Peterson since they extended an offer his way back on April 23. Expect the UNC basketball program to continue putting on the full-court press in an effort to earn a commitment from this five-star talent.
