After competing against each other for the first time in the NFL, two former UNC football stars shared a special moment postgame.

Jersey swaps have become a common trend in the NFL world.

Players across the league make an effort to swap jerseys with other players, whether they are former teammates, friends, or even athletes that the given person respects.

After the Washington Commanders defeated the Denver Broncos in an absolute thriller on Sunday afternoon, a special jersey swap with UNC football inspiration took place.

On his Instagram story, former UNC football star quarterback Sam Howell posted his jersey swap from the victory. It was none other than the jersey of Javonte Williams, his former teammate at North Carolina.

Here’s what Williams wrote on the jersey that was gifted to his former quarterback:

"“Sam, keep goin brudda! Love, No. 33.”"

Not long ago, the duo was working together to lead the Tar Heels high-powered offense. Now, they are competing against each other on Sundays.

Both players are key contributors to their respective teams. Howell, in his second NFL season, is the Commanders’ starting signal-caller, having won each of his first three starts dating back to last season. Williams, who is still working back from a season-ending injury a season ago, is undoubtedly the guy that the Broncos feel could be their long-term running back.

Fans of the UNC football program definitely have some fond moments of these two competing for the Tar Heels, as these types of reunions serve as a friendly reminder of how special their time in Chapel Hill truly was.
