In an effort to keep up with the world of NIL, the UNC basketball program has hired a director to oversee all NIL endeavors.

For all college sports, the world of NIL (Name, Image & Likeness) is one that still leaves athletic departments across the country looking for answers.

For a big-time team like the UNC basketball program, this world of NIL plays an even bigger role as companies and brands look to partner with some of the best players that the Tar Heels have to offer.

In an effort to improve the program’s NIL collective, the UNC basketball program has hired TJ Beisner to oversee the department.

Beisner spent the last two seasons overseeing Kentucky’s NIL Department, as it was reported about a week ago that he would be leaving John Calipari’s staff for a new position elsewhere. That new position lands him in Chapel Hill, a move that brings him closer to his son (who resides in North Carolina).

With his new role, Beisner will work with an outside firm that will oversee NIL deals for all UNC basketball players. He will also play a pivotal role in building out an NIL collective for the program.

In this new world of NIL, having someone in charge of how this process is handled is simply crucial for major college programs. The UNC basketball program is a prime example, as now they’ll have a staff member who has plenty of experience and knowledge with regard to the best ways to handle the NIL opportunities that might exist for student-athletes.
