North Carolina’s Director of Athletics released a statement shortly after the eligibility ruling of UNC football wideout Tez Walker was decided.

On Thursday, the NCAA once again denied UNC football transfer Devontez ‘Tez’ Walker the ability to play during the 2023 college football season.

The news was announced as part of a statement released on social media from head coach Mack Brown, who was very much heated over the ruling.

Following Brown’s statement, Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham released a statement of his own, voicing his utter displeasure toward the NCAA regarding this matter.

Not only did Cunningham reiterate some of the key points regarding this given situation, but also mentioned a few situations where the NCAA has turned a blind eye toward other student-athletes being eligible to participate right away.

If you’re unfamiliar with who Cunningham was referencing, the 50+ student-athlete transfers were aimed toward the University of Colorado, while the starting quarterback playing for his fourth university in six years was directed at current Rice signal-caller JT Daniels.

Cunningham, like the rest of the University of North Carolina community, is heated over this decision, as the NCAA continues to do wrong by this particular student-athlete. Given the circumstances, which were well-documented and presented on multiple occasions, the NCAA once again failed to do the right thing, leaving this student-athlete having to sit out the entire 2023 season because they elected to pick on him as an example of “cracking down on the rules.”

The NCAA has failed its student-athletes once again, as Tez Walker is forced to suffer while others get a free pass to do what they want.
