UNC Football: Brooks & Rucker earn ACC weekly honors
The UNC football program had a pair of student-athletes honored for their efforts in the teamโs opening weekend victory against South Carolina.
On Tuesday, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced its weekly honorees for the first week of the college football regular season.
Among this weekโs honorees are a pair of UNC football standouts.
British Brooks and Kaimon Rucker earned ACC Player of the Week honors for their respective positions. Both players made a major impact in the Tar Heels 31-17 victory over South Carolina on Saturday night.
Having not played in a game for 611 days due to injury, Brooks put togetherย a special performance in his return to the field. He led the way with 103 rushing yards, averaging 6.9 yards per carry in the victory.
Rucker is no stranger to weekly honors, as heโs already earned the Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week over the last few days.
The Tar Heels defense was outstanding on Saturday night against the Gamecocks, recording 9 total sacks and 16 tackles for loss. Rucker was a major part of that, recording eight tackles (six solo) while also registering two sacks.
Both veteran players played a huge role in the UNC football programโs first victory of the 2023 season, and their spots among the ACC Players of the Week are very much deserved honors.
The hope is that Brooks, Rucker, and other UNC football standouts will earn more honors as the program looks to continue winning football games over the next few months.
