UNC Football: What did Mack Brown say on College GameDay?
What did Mack Brown, head coach of the UNC football program, have to say during his appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay?
Prior to the UNC football program’s season opener against South Carolina on Saturday night, head coach Mack Brown made a special appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay.
The Tar Heels head coach was joined by South Carolina’s head coach Shame Beamer as the two discussed some important topics heading into tonight’s contest.
Right away, Brown brought up the topic of conference re-alignment, stating the importance of keeping regional games like this active even with all of these changes.
"“We’re losing some of this with realignment… we’ve got to make sure we keep neat games and cool games that people really care about.”"
Brown was also asked about the new additions to his coaching staff, most notably offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, tight ends coach and running game coordinator Freddie Kitchens as well as offensive analyst Clyde Christensen.
The Tar Heels head coach was excited for all three additions but went into detail about Christensen, who comes to Chapel Hill with an impressive resume of working with some top-tier quarterbacks.
"“Clyde Christensen has been around the best — Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, Jameis Winston.”"
Drake Maye is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the country, as he’ll now have Christensen in his corner helping him improve as he eventually prepares for a career in the NFL.
Speaking of Maye, Brown discussed how the quarterback matchup between him and Spencer Rattler is a main reason why fans are so excited for tonight’s game. The two quarterbacks have the opportunity to put on a show as their teams square off on the national stage.
