Week Six: Syracuse

Delahanty:

After a week off, the Tar Heels will be focused on avenging their loss to Pittsburgh as conference foe Syracuse comes into town.

If the UNC football program is locked in, I expect this one to be a blowout in favor of the Tar Heels. It could also be a great week to see some depth guys if the Tar Heels can get out to a big lead at some point throughout the contest.

Prediction: North Carolina 42, Syracuse 14 (Record 3-2)

Falls:

The Tar Heels come home for an October stretch sitting at 2-2 and have three straight home games, all very crucial in their race for making the ACC Championship game, especially with no more division format. I don’t see a world where Syracuse provides a challenge to Maye or the Tar Heels. This will be a stat-padding game for Maye to make his case for the Heisman Trophy and the defense will put together back-to-back good performances to get some momentum.

Prediction: North Carolina 37, Syracuse 13 (Record: 3-2)

Ebersbach:

After not playing last season, North Carolina will host Syracuse in the Heels’ second conference game of the season. The Orange went 7-6 last season as their star running back, Sean Tucker pursued a professional career after breaking out last season. There are not many things that give me an idea that Syracuse will even compete with the Tar Heels in this game, given last season’s results.

Prediction: North Carolina 42, Syracuse 18 (Record: 4-1)
