Week Twelve: AT Clemson

Delahanty:

The UNC football program got absolutely blown out by this Clemson squad in last year’s ACC title game, as the disappointing showing doesn’t leave much confidence heading into this year’s matchup.

Clemson is not as dominant as they once were, but this is still a very good football team. I expect them to take care of business as they should beat North Carolina by double-digits.

Prediction: Clemson 38, North Carolina 21 (Record 7-4)

Falls:

A rematch of the 2022 ACC Championship game. A game that Drake Maye arguably played the worst game of his college career at the time. The Tar Heels had the ball four times inside the 10-yard line and only scored three points against the Tigers. By the time that had happened, Clemson was up four scores. How much different that game could have been if the Carolina offense scored touchdowns when getting inside the red zone?

The Tar Heels head to Death Valley with hopes of upsetting a Top-10 opponent and playing Clemson closer than they did last year. This game will be closer than that 39-10 loss that was suffered in Charlotte. However, the defense hasn’t improved enough to stop Cade Klubnik and the Tigers’ defense still will give the offensive line and Maye trouble. Carolina will suffer their first and only double-digit loss of the season.

Prediction: Clemson 34, North Carolina 17 (Record: 8-3)

Ebersbach:

This is a game that I am sure Mack Brown has circled on his calendar since the ACC Championship Game last season, where the Tar Heels lost 39-10. In that game last year North Carolina was down a lot of key players and just had a terrible performance from beginning to end. Clemson is and always will be atop the ACC for football and this year is no different. I see North Carolina giving Clemson a close game, but they will be overpowered as the game is also in Death Valley.

Prediction: Clemson 33, North Carolina 17 (Record: 9-2)
