Armando Bacot has been putting in work during the summer months, as it appears that the UNC basketball star big man has improved his jump shot.

Heading into his fifth and final season with the UNC basketball program, Armando Bacot has some unfinished business to take care of.

Of course, Bacot wants to solidify his legacy as a Tar Heel by leading the program to a national title. He also will look to put himself firmly in the program’s historic record books.

Although the upcoming season is his focus right now, it’s hard not to think about the future as well.

Bacot has been putting in work during the offseason, as he’s worked out with a notable NBA trainer. With the goal of playing pro in mind, Bacot knows that he has to improve his mid-range game, something that he has seemed to address over the last couple of months.

The above video, courtesy of Foul Up Three, shows Bacot taking and knocking down shots from beyond the arc. His shooting form improvement is the most notable aspect here, as his release is much more fluid than it originally was.

To give you some perspective, here’s a clip of Bacot shooting threes in a workout in May of 2021:

See the difference?

Bacot’s improved shooting form could help him both now and in the long run.

For the upcoming season, if he can stretch the floor a bit, it would certainly add a dimension to his game that would be tough for opponents to keep up with. We know he’s a dominant force in the paint, but he completely becomes a matchup nightmare if he can knock down a few shots from deep.

In the long run, as he looks to prove to NBA teams that he belongs in the league, adding the ability to stretch the floor will only help his chances.

No one is expecting him to turn into Brady Manek overnight. However, this improvement in his game could reap benefits for the UNC basketball program as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2022-2023 season.
