Mack Brown and the UNC football program have extended an offer to in-state Class of 2025 defensive lineman prospect Trajen Odom.

Recruiting is very often measured by stars.

The number of stars tied to prospects plays a role in fans of the respective program wanting those players to attend their favorite schools. Fans dream of landing the best five-star talents available, but it’s so often that lower-ranked players end up making the most impact at the collegiate level.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program understand this, as they identify players based on their fit for the program, not just by the number of stars they’ve earned on the recruiting ranks.

This is the story for Class of 2025 prospect Trajen Odom, who has recently earned an offer from North Carolina.

Odom, a Cary, North Carolina native, isn’t ranked by 247Sports. In fact, North Carolina is just the second Power-Five school to extend an offer to the 6-foot-3, 235-pound defensive lineman.

Are the Tar Heels simply getting ahead of the curve in this in-state product’s recruitment?

As he heads into his junior season, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see Odom’s recruitment heat up a bit. The good news for the UNC football program is that they can say they were involved before more teams decided to jump into the mix.
