Former UNC Basketball player Anthony Harris announce that he would be transferring to the University of St. Thomas for the 2023 basketball season.

Remember the name Anthony Harris Tar Heel fans?

It hasn’t been that long since the former UNC basketball guard suited up in Carolina blue. Harris last played in a game for the Tar Heels on January 8th, 2022 against Virginia when he saw 16 minutes of game action.

After that though, Harris’ career at Carolina took a turn. On January 21, the program announced that he would be unavailable to play for the remainder of the 2021-2022 season.

There was no announcement on why Harris was ruled out for the season, but speculation turned toward academics. Hubert Davis was quoted saying this about the announcement:

"Anthony has worked hard to become a valuable contributor to our team. We are disappointed for Anthony and our team, but he will continue to contribute and we know he will work hard so he can play for us again next season."

After the 2022 season ended, Harris announced he would be transferring to Rhode Island. However, he never got cleared to join the team – again no reasoning was ever stated on why he wasn’t cleared, but speculation pointed towards academic reasons.

Now, Harris has transferred for a second time and joined his third school in the past 16 months. On Friday night, Harris announced he would be attending the University of St. Thomas, a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
