UNC Football picked to finish third in 2023 ACC Preseason Poll
The media projects that Mack Brown and the UNC football program will be among the top teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference this season.
The annual ACC Preseason Poll was recently conducted, as a media panel, including those who were credentialed for last week’s ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte, North Carolina, were asked to give their vote on how the conference’s standings would play out.
For Mack Brown and the UNC football program, they project to be one of the better programs in the conference but still are seeded behind a few others.
The Tar Heels came in third with 1,981 total points, as they did receive five first-place votes in the process. They only trail Clemson (2,370 points) and Florida State (2,304) on the list but also hold a rather large lead over NC State (1,662) who is projected to finish fourth in the conference.
It’s important to remember that preseason polls are simply early projections. As much as we all like to think we know about a specific sport and the teams within it, it’s simply impossible to accurately predict how the standings will finalize come the end of the regular season.
The UNC football program is earning respect from the voters, as they are considered among the top programs that the ACC has to offer. It’s good to see that the media is taking notice of what Mack Brown and company are trying to accomplish, as they believe that this is the year to make a run with star quarterback Drake Maye under center.
