UNC Baseball lands commitment from Matt McKnight
Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program have earned a commitment from Matt McKnight, an in-state infielder prospect from the Class of 2025.
The UNC baseball program wasted no time in earning a commitment from one of the state’s top prospects.

On social media, Matt McKnight announced his commitment to Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program. McKnight is a Charlotte, North Carolina native that is a member of the Class of 2025.
The Diamond Heels now have seven players committed to their 2025 recruiting class. Of the seven players that have already pledged to the UNC baseball program, four of them reside within the state of North Carolina.
College baseball recruiting isn’t nearly at the level of other collegiate sports (such as basketball and football), but there is still some information available regarding some of the top high school baseball prospects.
McKnight, a member of the Richmond Braves 16U Platinum squad, is featured on Perfect Game‘s website, where he earned a PG Grade of 9 (on a scale of 10 being the highest).
To put it into perspective, a player graded at a 9 level is viewed as a potential top 10-round pick and/or highest-level college prospect.
McKnight is a great pickup for Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program, as a talented in-state product has made the decision to call Chapel Hill his future home to round out his recruiting process with two years left in his high school career.
