The UNC football program’s long-snapper is earning some much-deserved recognition heading into the 2023 college football season.

Long snappers don’t get the praise that players of other positions on the football field receive.

However, long snappers play an integral part in a program’s special teams unit, as it’s vitally important to have one that is both accurate and consistent within their craft.

The UNC football program has rising senior Drew Little, a player who is considered among the very best at his position.

Little has earned a spot on the Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List for the 2023 college football season. The award is annually presented to the overall best Long Snapper at the Division I FBS level.

In order to qualify for the award, the winner must have started 75 percent of his team’s games during his senior season, snap on both punts and placements, while also demonstrating a strong mentality, notable athleticism, as well as speed, accuracy, and consistency in their snaps.

Little fits the bill, as he’s expected to handle all snapping duties for the UNC football program once again this upcoming season.

This is well-deserved recognition for Little, as he’s served as an important player among the program’s special teams unit over his UNC football career. The Tar Heels hope he can continue being a consistent snapper for them as they aim to reach new heights during the 2023 season.
