The former UNC basketball player will continue playing overseas, as his professional career is now taking him to Japan for the 2023-2024 season.

Since ending his college career with the UNC basketball program, Justin Pierce has played five professional seasons overseas.

Pierce began his professional career with the Lapuan Korikobrat in Finland and proceeded to spend the next two seasons in Germany as a member of both the VfL Kirchheim Knights as well as the wiha Panthers Schwenninge. From there, Pierce spent the 2022-2023 season with Monar Bar in Montenegro.

The 2023-2024 season will take Pierce to a new country, as he’s signed a deal with Viatin Mie in Japan.

Pierce was only with the UNC basketball program for one season. After starting his college career at William & Mary, Pierce elected to be a Tar Heel for his senior season, averaging five points per game over 32 contests.

Even while being utilized in a reserve role, Pierce showed some veteran leadership for the 2019-2020 Tar Heels. Although that season didn’t go as planned, Pierce has made the most of his opportunities overseas, as he’ll now look to thrive in a new league that’s featured in a country that’s new to the former UNC basketball player.

Heading into the 2023-2024 season, Justin Pierce is another UNC basketball player to keep an eye out for as he continues his professional basketball career.
