As NFL training camps are officially underway, let’s take a look at the UNC football alums that are currently vying for a roster spot.

The month of August is quickly approaching, which means the NFL season is that much closer to starting.

With NFL training camps underway, there are plenty of UNC football alums that are participating with their current teams. Some are projected to be starters while others are vying for a roster spot, but it’s still good to see plenty of former Tar Heels making their cases to play on Sundays this fall.

Let’s take a look at the current Tar Heels who are in NFL camps: (Bold= projected starter)

Jake Bargas (10th NFL Season)- New Orleans Saints
Dyami Brown (Third NFL Season)- Washington Commanders
Michael Carter (Third NFL Season)- New York Jets
Ty Chandler (Second NFL Season)- Minnesota Vikings
Josh Downs (Rookie)- Indianapolis Colts
Joshua Ezeudu (Second NFL Season)- New York Giants
Tomon Fox (Second NFL Season)- New York Giants
Antoine Green (Rookie)- Detroit Lions
Charlie Heck (Fourth NFL Season)- Houston Texans
Cole Holcomb (Fifth NFL Season)- Washington Commanders
Mack Hollins (Seventh NFL Season)- Atlanta Falcons
Sam Howell (Second NFL Season)- Washington Commanders
James Hurst (10th NFL Season)- New Orleans Saints
Kyler McMichael (Second NFL Season)- Arizona Cardinals
Dazz Newsome (Second NFL Season)- San Francisco 49ers
Asim Richards (Rookie)- Dallas Cowboys
Andre Smith (Sixth NFL Season)- Atlanta Falcons
M.J. Stewart Jr. (Sixth NFL Season)- Houston Texans
Chazz Surratt (Third NFL Season)- New York Jets
Mitchell Trubisky (Seventh NFL Season)- Pittsburgh Steelers
Raymond Vohasek (Rookie)- Jacksonville Jaguars
Javonte Williams (Third NFL Season)- Denver Broncos

A lot could change over the next couple of weeks, as some players will be looking for new homes while others will have solidified a spot on their current team’s roster. It will be interesting to see which players are able to carve out a bigger role than expected as the NFL preseason rolls along.
