UNC Baseball program lands high-profile SEC transfer
Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program have added an SEC transfer that should make an impact right away in the Tar Heels’ lineup.
Replacing the production of Mac Horvath and Tomas Frick won’t be easy, but Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program took a big step in doing so by adding a high-profile transfer to the mix.
According to D1Baseball’s transfer tracker, Georgia corner infielder Parks Harber has committed to the Tar Heels. The Atlanta, Georgia, native will join the Diamond Heels after spending his first three collegiate seasons with the Bulldogs.
Harber has been an offensive standout during his college career, as his junior season was definitely his best overall performance. Over 53 games started (split between first and third base), the newest Tar Heel hit a career-high 18 home runs while batting .283 along with driving in 56 runs. He put together 18 multi-RBI games along with 16 multi-hit games.
He was even better in SEC play, as he posted a .300 batting average. Some of his biggest moments this season include a walk-off home run to complete a sweep of No. 5-ranked Arkansas along with a go-ahead RBI double in the ninth inning to upset No.2-ranked Florida in Gainesville.
This addition should impact the UNC baseball program right away, as they’ve secured a middle-of-the-order type of bat to add to the collection of talent that they already have. If Harber can produce at the level he did at Georgia, the Diamond Heels top of the order will once again cause havoc for opposing pitching staffs.
