UNC Women’s Basketball: Banghart takes over as WBCA President
The leader of the UNC women’s basketball program has begun a two-year term as the president of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
When it comes to advocating for women’s college basketball, Courtney Banghart serves as one of the most prominent leaders the sport has to offer.
Now, the UNC women’s basketball program’s head coach will be taking on a new role as the president of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, which was founded in 1981, is the professional association for coaches of women’s and girls’ basketball at all levels of competition. The WBCA is a valuable resource for coaches of all levels as the organization is aimed to:
-Offer educational resources that coaches need to help make themselves better leaders, teachers, and mentors.
-Provide opportunities for coaches to connect with peers within the profession.
-Serve as the unifying voice of a diverse community of coaches to the organizations that control the game.
-Celebrate those in women’s basketball who excel each year and contribute to the advancement of the sport.
Banghart, who officially began her two-year term, had this to say regarding her appointment to the position:
"“The sport of women’s basketball is at such an exciting time. Serving our organization in this capacity is both an honor and a responsibility, and it will get my best. I look forward to working with our coaches to ensure this inflection point for our sport is fully realized.”"
The sport of women’s basketball is growing by the day, and leaders, such as Banghart, hope to help it grow even more through the positive resources that the WBCA has to offer.
Seeing what Banghart has accomplished in five seasons with the UNC women’s basketball program, it’s safe to say that the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association is in great hands!
