The former UNC football star wide receiver started off training camp on the right foot as he looks to earn a big role in the Commanders’ offense.

Dyami Brown is looking to make the most of his early opportunities as part of the Washington Commanders’ training camp.

The former UNC football star wide receiver is working to earn a prominent role in new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy’s system and has the added bonus of getting to work alongside former college teammate Sam Howell once again.

Through the first few days of training camp, Brown has looked like a different player as Riggo’s Rags broke down his early performance. When asked about Brown, head coach Ron Rivera seemed to be pleased with how the former Tar Heel has performed.

"“I see Dyami more confident, more comfortable in his route running right now. He’s more precise, he’s sharper, and you see him going after the ball. That’s something we saw coming out of the draft a few years back that this guy led the NCAA in contested catches, so that’s one of the things that we’re happy to see again.”"

Based on Rivera’s comments, Brown is showcasing the qualities that made him a star in Chapel Hill. A confident receiver who goes after the football, Brown’s ability to catch the football in contested situations is a trait that could earn him a spot on the field, as he’s willing to get physical in order to make something happen for the team.

The Commanders have some quality wide receivers on their roster, but Brown should be considered among them. Given his connection with Howell and playmaking ability, if Brown can continue improving during training camp, don’t be surprised if there’s some type of role carved out for him within the team’s offense this season.
