The former UNC basketball standout is heading overseas after spending last season with the New York Knicks G-League affiliate.

A few weeks ago, Garrison Brooks competed with the New Orleans Pelicans during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

The former UNC basketball standout spent the previous season with the Worchester Knicks, the G-League affiliate of the New York Knicks, a season in which he averaged a double-double over his 22 games played.

Similar to what we saw with fellow former Tar Heel Brady Manek, Brooks has elected to take his game overseas.

Brooks has agreed to a one-year deal with Wonju DB Promy, a professional basketball club in the Korean Basketball League. The club is coming off a 2022-2023 season in which they missed the playoffs by just two games.

As unfortunate as it is that Brooks wasn’t able to secure an NBA-level contract, it’s good to see him find a home for the season within the Korean Basketball League. It’s likely that his contract is more lucrative overseas than it would be as a member of the G-League, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to see Brooks, among many other talented players, making their way to play basketball in other countries.

Brooks has proven to be a very good rebounder as well as a capable scoring threat and should provide Wonju DB Promy with a strong frontcourt presence for the upcoming Korean Basketball League season.

Next. Brady Manek signs with BC Zalgiris Kaunas. dark
