UNC Football: Javonte Williams cleared for training camp
After a season-ending injury in 2022, the former UNC football standout has been cleared to begin training camp with the Denver Broncos.
The goal for Javonte Williams was to be ready to practice with the Denver Broncos as they kick off the 2023 training camp period.
We can officially say that the former UNC football star has accomplished that goal.
Williams has avoided being placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, leaving him eligible to participate from the beginning of training camp. The Broncos are set to begin training camp this week, as the former Tar Heel is expected to be a full participant.
After suffering a season-ending ACL injury last season, the timetable for Williams to return was unknown. However, the former Tar Heel put in the work to rehab his injury, and he’s met his goal of being ready to begin camp with his team.
This is great news for the Broncos, who could very well end up having their star running back ready for week one of the 2023 regular season. Of course, the franchise will keep close tabs on their featured tailback, but Williams seems “ready to go,” as he looks to pick up right where he left off prior to the injury.
Williams rushed for 903 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie and seemed to be on pace to surpass those numbers before the injury ended his sophomore season early. Now, Williams will look to get to and stay at full strength in order to help the Broncos get back on track under new head coach Sean Payton.
