In his latest recruitment update, what did five-star guard Isiah Harwell have to say about his current relationship with the UNC basketball program?

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program continue to heavily pursue five-star guard Isiah Harwell.

The five-star guard, rated as the No. 7 player in the Class of 2025 (according to 247Sports), received an offer from North Carolina in September, as the Tar Heels have been showing him how much they want him ever since.

After a stellar performance at the Adidas 3SSB Championship, an event in which the UNC basketball program was there to watch him in person, Harwell discussed his current recruitment with Dushawn London of 247Sports. Here’s what he had to say regarding North Carolina:

"“That relationship is cool. I took an unofficial there and it’s a school I like. The people there are very welcoming and since that visit they talk to me a lot, we always keep in check and call each other. With them, they didn’t do that good last year but they’re going to pick it back up this year with all the recruiting they’ve done.”"

That unofficial visit took place last fall, as Harwell was in Chapel Hill to not only check out the campus but to take in a UNC football game as well. As his recruitment begins to heat up, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Harwell take an official visit over the next few months.

Harwell also spoke about what he’s looking for in a program, a description that seems to fit the UNC basketball program quite well.

"“I just want coaches that I get along with and their play style fits me. I want to play in an up and down pace where the guards are running. I also want to play for a coach that bonds with his players.“"

The UNC basketball program isn’t shying away from their pursuit of Isiah Harwell, as the Tar Heels should be considered strong contenders at this point in his recruitment process.
