The UNC football program’s star quarterback has been selected as part of “The Rock’s Warriors,” highlighting Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s energy drink.

Before he was a WWE star and one of the most popular actors in the world, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was a college football defensive tackle at the University of Miami.

Contrary to when Johnson played in the 1990s, college athletes couldn’t earn profit off their name, image, and likeness. Now, college athletes can benefit from their brand, as the NIL rules allow college athletes across the country the opportunity to partner up with some of the most popular brands in the world.

As he looks to promote his new energy drink, ZOA, Johnson has created a program called “The Rock’s Warriors,” as he has signed seven college athletes to NIL deals, including UNC football star quarterback Drake Maye.

Along with Maye, the following student-athletes have agreed to be a part of this inaugural group:

Brock Bowers (Georgia)
Hansel Enmanuel (Austin Peay)
Amaya Gainer (Florida A&M)
Marvin Harrison Jr. (Ohio State)
Kamren Kinchens (Miami)
Angel Reese (LSU)

“The Rock” personally picked the seven student-athletes as part of this campaign, as he broke down what went into the selection process in an official release statement:

"“Through this first-of-its-kind NIL expansion program, ZOA Energy will bring together some of the greatest college athletes of our time. I know from experience the grit and hard work that’s required of these college athletes to get the job done. Not just during their championship games or in the classrooms, but every day in the game of life. ZOA gives people that power, that unique energy to fuel themselves and fuel others around them – that’s why I’m super pumped about uniting all of The Rock’s Warriors under one roof.I personally selected these phenomenal individuals because of the energy, tenacity, and excitement they bring to the game. With a diverse set of stories and experiences, they’re driven, hungry, talented and ready for ZOA to help fuel them to greatness.”"

Maye has become one of college football’s brightest stars, as his stellar redshirt freshman season put him on the map in regard to potential NIL deals. This is a big-time deal for the UNC football program’s quarterback, as he’s teamed up with some elite college athletes to work alongside one of the most well-known individuals that our world has to offer.
