Which UNC football players will be representing the program at the upcoming 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Kickoff event?

Ahead of next week’s ACC Kickoff event, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 42 student-athletes who will attend the event, which will be held from July 25-27 at The Westin Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The three-day event will be broadcasted live on ACC Network, as coverage is set to begin at 9 a.m. every day. Fans will have the opportunity to hear from players and coaches as the 2023 season is just a few weeks away.

As each program is allowed to bring three players, the trio of UNC football standouts attending the event are as follows:

Along with head coach Mack Brown, star quarterback Drake Maye, standout linebacker Cedric Gray and rising tight end/special teams player John Copenhaver will represent the program.

Most of the attention should center around Maye, who is one of 11 quarterbacks attending the event. After a stellar redshirt freshman season, Maye is projected to be one of (if not the) top quarterbacks selected in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Maye, the reigning ACC Player of the Year, was mentioned in the conference’s official press release:

"Maye, the 2022 ACC Player of the Year, tied for the ACC lead with 38 passing touchdowns, two scores shy of the conference freshman record set by Florida State’s Jameis Winston in 2013. Maye’s 4,321 passing yards was the most ever by a freshman and ranks fifth all-time in the ACC."

Heading into the 71st season of ACC football, it will be great to hear from the members of the UNC football program. The program has high expectations heading into the 2023 season, as they can provide some insight into what UNC football fans can expect to see this upcoming season.
