UNC Basketball: Hubert Davis making strong effort for Darryn Peterson
Hubert Davis is making a strong impression on Class of 2025 star Darryn Peterson, as the UNC basketball program is in the mix in his early recruitment.
Ever since the UNC basketball program extended a scholarship offer to Class of 2025 five-star guard Darryn Peterson, Hubert Davis and his staff have done everything they can to show him how much they want him to end up in Chapel Hill.
Heading into his junior season, the Tar Heels have kept close tabs on the Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio native, as they’ve made an emphasis on seeing him compete in person.
Recently, Davis was among a handful of coaches on-hand at the Adidas 3SSB Championships, where Peterson showed why he’s ranked by 247Sports as the No. 3 overall player in his class.
While updating Jamie Shaw of On3 on his current recruitment, Peterson has definitely noticed Davis’ presence in the stands of his games:
"“Coach (Hubert) Davis has been to a few of my games. The fact he comes to watch me where there are all kinds of other good players means a lot. That’s big that he’s picking my game to come to watch. We’re supposed to get on the phone soon. They’re guard dominant. They give their guards freedom and let them get off and play how they want to play. That is big for me.”"
Although he doesn’t have any official visits set up just yet, Peterson noted that he plans on starting making some trips to schools once his junior year of high school gets underway. Based on his comments regarding Davis and the style of play that the UNC basketball program offers a player at his position, it would be a surprise if Peterson doesn’t at least make an official stop in Chapel Hill during his recruitment tour.
