The former UNC baseball standout is officially ready to begin his big league career, as he’s agreed to a deal with the Baltimore Orioles.

When the Baltimore Orioles drafted Mac Horvath in the second round of the 2023 MLB Draft, it was expected that the UNC baseball program’s star was going to sign with the organization.

On Monday, Horvath and the Orioles agreed to terms on a deal, promptly signifying the start of his professional baseball career.

Horvath signed for $1.4 million, which is slightly below the pick value ($1,582,900 million). However, even though he signed for under the slotted value, it was a deal that Horvath and his agent felt worked for the former Diamond Heels slugger.

As part of his official signing day, Horvath was in Baltimore and watched as his new club took on the Los Angeles Dodgers at Camden Yards. He even made an appearance on MASN’s broadcast of the game where he told a funny story about the first time he encountered scouts from the UNC baseball program.

To add to the excitement of his first official day on the job, Horvath also spent time recently with the team’s first-round pick, Vanderbilt’s Enrique Bradfield Jr., at Jimmy’s Famous Seafood.

Of course, we already know Jimmy’s Famous Seafood are big North Carolina supporters!

Now that the deal is officially done, Horvath can focus his attention on his big-league career, as he’ll work towards making his way to the big leagues in the near future.
