UNC Football: Malcolm Ziglar commits to North Carolina
The momentum in his recruitment was legit, as Malcolm Ziglar becomes the latest standout to commit to Mack Brown and the UNC football program.
Heading up to Malcolm Ziglar’s final decision, the UNC football program was trending favorably towards landing a commitment from the in-state product.
On Monday afternoon, Ziglar confirmed that the momentum in his recruitment was legitimate.
Ziglar becomes the latest Class of 2024 standout to commit to Mack Brown and the UNC football program. Although he narrowed his options down to eight schools back on June 21, it really ended up being a three-team race between North Carolina, South Carolina, and Notre Dame.
The Gamecocks seemed to be the Tar Heels’ biggest competitor, but fortunately the Fuquay Varina, North Carolina native elected to play his college football career in his home state.
The 6-foot-2, 198-pound safety is a four-star prospect who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 5 overall player out of the state of North Carolina. He is also considered the No. 17 overall safety prospect in the Class of 2024.
Carlos Mitchell Jr.’s decision to de-commit on July 16 left the UNC football program with a void in the secondary. However, just a day later, Ziglar fills the void, as the Tar Heels have successfully landed another top in-state product. Ziglar becomes the seventh player from the state of North Carolina to join the Tar Heels 2024 recruiting class.
The UNC football program now has 24 players committed to the Class of 2024, as their overall class remains in the top 25 of 247Sports’ team rankings.
